We always recommend that you have an assessment when looking at any mobility product especially This can either be completed within your own home or at one of our local stores. The assessment would take into account your clinical needs, lifestyle, environment and your carers or family. In order to facilitate finding the right one for you, we can take into account seat width and depth through to pressure seating.
With so many different makes and models out there such as Invacare, Dietz, Pride and Sunrise Medical it can be a difficult question to answer. However, from our point of view, the best electric wheelchair is the one that suits you. It’s about finding the right solution for you which is where we come in. Assessing your mobility means we can get your requirements right the first time. We have helped hundreds of wheelchair users to find the right wheelchair for them so you in safe, and very experienced, hands.
The cost of an electric wheelchair or power chair is determined by what you want it for. Is it for indoor use or outdoor use? Will you be going a long-distance? What are your personal requirements for comfortability which includes pressure seating? There are other questions that need to be asked in order to find the right solution for you. Costs can range from £1,000 through to £21,000 plus!
As electric wheelchairs come in all shapes and sizes and uses it is difficult to say which one is best. Some of the lightest electric wheelchairs are probably ones that have a power pack attached. These are specifically for assisted movement and not used for full independent self-movement as the power packs are not built for this. On the smaller end of the market lighter electric wheelchairs such as the Rascal Rio or similar size come in handy if looking for one that will go into a car.
Choosing wheelchairs can be a very personal thing. It is our role to facilitate the right mobility choice for you. Think about the following:
