Healthcare Chairs

At Shire Mobility we have been working in healthcare environments such as care homes, nursing homes, and individuals for over 20 years supporting their needs and solutions on healthcare chairs. Our specialist healthcare chairs also called hospital chairs are designed to accommodate a wide range of individual medical needs. Whether the requirements are for a raised chair that offers postural support and pressure relief, a sensory-stimulating chair to help with motor restlessness and sensory impairment, or something entirely different our expert team can help you find the right solution. To make sure the right solution is found we offer personalised assessments and will work where needed with occupational therapists and care teams to do that. We only use premier suppliers and stockists such as Repose for our specialist care home chairs.

Health care chairs are chairs specifically designed to support a user’s needs within usually healthcare environments. This can include factors such as pressure support, seat height, anti-bacterial fabric

How much do health care chairs cost?

The price of care home chairs or nursing home chairs are dependent on the needs of the user. However, we have a wide product range between these price points to suit needs and budgets.

Is it best to have an assessment before ordering health care chairs?

Yes! Always speak to your local Shire Mobility shop before ordering care home chairs. Unless you already know exactly what the user requires it is best to have an assessment. We work with occupational therapists, carers and individuals to find the best solution. Areas to consider could be:
  • How long will the user be sitting in the chair?
  • Can they sit up without support and for how long?
  • Are they mobile and how mobile are they?
  • Do you need to take into account how they would transfer out of the chair?
  • How comfortable are we able to make them?
  • Do we need to take into account anti-microbial fabric coverings?

There is plenty more to take into account than the above… which is why we always recommend a detailed consultation with our sales team.

What is a porter chair?

A porter chair is designed for carers and individuals to be able to push the user around. Examples would be the Boston tilt in space porter chair or the Flexi porter
