Handicare Stairlifts FAQ

What is the average cost of a Handicare straight stairlift?

For a standard straight stairlift from Handicare, the average cost is £1,495. This would be the Handicare 1100 and would come with a manual footrest and swivel. There are options available such as powered footrest and swivel along with a hinge. All of this would be discussed when we conduct a survey of your stairs in your home.

On average how long does a Handicare stairlift last?

Straight stairlifts and curved stairlifts can last for many years. It all depends on how they are looked after and their use. Remember there are moving parts so it is always best to have your stairlift serviced once a year. That way any potential issues can be rectified quickly.

How long does it take to install a Handicare stairlift?

Straight stairlifts such as the Handicare 1100 can take approx 2.5 hours whilst a curved can take 4 hours or more. It very much depends on the complexity of the installation especially with stairlift solutions that incorporate a curve. What rail design is going to be used?

Can Handicare stairlifts be fitted to any stairs?

Stairlifts can be fitted to most stairs. The easiest to fit are straight stairlifts, however, there are areas that need to be taken into account with both straight and curved. Questions that can be asked during your survey:

  • How big is the area at the bottom and top of the stairs?
  • Is there a second or third smaller landing to take into account?
  • Which way do any doors open around these two areas?
  • Where is the nearest plug socket?
  • What is the width of the stairs, and does this vary?

These are just to name a few of the questions we ask on the installation side, along with questions of the people who will be using it such as their mobility and size. It is always best to get a professional company around to complete an assessment such as Shire Mobility. We are your local Handicare Stairlifts Installers & Stockists.
